Giudecca, Venice
The Press Office had the opportunity to collaborate with the Luigi Nono Festival for the 2017, 2018, 2021, and 2022 editions.
Based in Giudecca, it is an interdisciplinary project that combines music and visual arts, dedicated to the Venetian composer Luigi Nono (Venice, January 29, 1924 – May 8, 1990), who lived on the island for most of his life. The program includes music and dance performances, photographic and documentary exhibitions, screenings of audiovisual materials, student meetings, readings, and a roundtable discussion.
In the background, the vibrant life of Giudecca, once home to abandoned factories and a battleground for significant civil, educational, and health rights struggles during the post-war reconstruction years.
The associations and organizations involved in the Festival participate with activities specifically designed to highlight the extensive unpublished documentation preserved at the Luigi Nono Archive. This documentation is of great interest not only for understanding the artist but also for reconstructing the historical and social context of Giudecca from the 1950s to the present.
