“Fragmentation,” Anese Cho

Laboratorium, Venice
21.06 – 22.07.2019

Laboratorium-Venezia presented the exhibition “Anese Cho: Fragmentation,” curated by Thalia Vrachopoulos.

The exhibition explored the condition of women through Cho’s works, highlighting female oppression and exclusion not merely as an interpretation but as a reflection of uncertainty and fragmentation. Cho depicted the challenges women face in balancing career and family life within a patriarchal context. This fragmentation, seen through the roles of mother, wife, and career woman, became the central theme of her sculptures.

Cho’s sculptures, marked by smooth surfaces and contrasting colors like red and black, represented the duality between life and death.
