Jewish Manga Art, “The Beauty of Precision,” Thomas Lay

Jewish Museum of Venice
20.03 – 28.04.2019

The Press Office had the privilege of collaborating with the Jewish Museum of Venice for seven years, from 2018 to 2024.

“The Beauty of Precision” is a solo exhibition of paintings by artist Thomas Lay, a Western mangaka and the first assistant to Yumiko Igarashi, the renowned creator of Candy Candy.

The artist combines two ultra-millennial cultures in his works, representing what are often orthodox children through the bright and soft style of the famous Japanese comic strip. The result is a peculiar mix where Jewish tradition is presented in a jovial and colourful key.
